First of all, it's not my style to bash another photographers style. We were all created differently and ART, as we all know is subjective.
As a photographer I'm looking for my clients not only to have a great experience but awesome images. Sometimes having a great relationship trumps quality. I work hard to provide both. You should not have to compromise one for the other. I've seen great work from not so friendly photographers and good work from very personable photographers. So I understand that a lot goes into selecting a wedding photographer. If your looking for snap shots of your details in a very brightly lit window or similar atmosphere with no creative thought behind the shot. Great! If you also want your reception photos lit up so much that it washes out of any contrast or ambient light such as the beautiful candle lit center pieces or up-lighting you went with. Again Great! This is where I wish you well and hope you have a great time wedding planning.
If you like the mood set to where the lights are down before your first dance with your love! Well Great! If you want the up lighting in the background and the lighting in your photos to reflect your memory of the moment you guys looked at each other and danced your first dance as husband and wife. Awesome! Do you want your details shot in a creative way, not just placing your shoes on a window sill or rings having the flash of light blasting them. Then this is where I'm giggling like a little school girl inside and hope I can be your wedding photographer.
You, You are my client!!
Going back and remembering your night through photography rather than the blur it was the night of is the reason you hire me. To take you back to the dramatic first dance as the lights were low and emotions were so high. To capture the bouquet toss, la vivora de la mar, the tossing of the groom! A lot of people can take a snap shot and hit you with bright flash but that's not me and hope you can appreciate all the work and practice I've done to bring you the mood and drama of your night. At times it's not about capturing the mood and drama but at times I'm counted on to create it!
Bride and Groom first dance.
A one light set up to my right with a grid to spotlight the Bride and Groom.
A one light set up to my brides right side with a grid to again create a spotlight effect and have less light spill on my subject.
Camera setting set to where the background is not too dark or too bright to where the up lighting in the back washes out.
Great balance with off camera flash and camera setting to show off the ambient light in the background.
1 Light set up to my camera left with grid and here i also used a prism to create a reflection of light.
Created this image with one flash and placed bouquet gently on the floor.
Notice how I took a well lit area and created an image that will seperate it from just a regular snapshot.
